Merck and Idemitsu Kosan announced on November 7 that they made an agreement to use a part of patent rights of both companies’ OLED materials.

Merck와 Idemitsu Kosan은 양사의 OLED materials 관련 특허권 일부를 공동 사용하는 업무 협약을 체결했다고 지난 7일 발표했다.
양사는 OLED materials을 양산하는 대표 업체로, 긴 개발 역사와 다수의 특허를 보유하고 있으며 현재 다양한 업체에 OLED materials을 공급하고 있다.

LG전자의 超프리미엄 LG SIGNATURE(LG 시그니처) 올레드 TV가‘CES 최고 혁신상(Best of innovation Awards)’을 수상했다. 이로써 LG 올레드 TV는 2년 연속 ‘CES 최고 혁신상’을 수상해 현존하는 최고의 TV임을 다시 한 번 입증했다. LG 올레드 TV는 ‘비디오 디스플레이(Video Display)’ 부문에서 ‘CES 최고 혁신상’을 받는 등 모두 6개의 CES 혁신상(CES 2017 Innovation Awards)을 수상했다. 이로써 LG 올레드 TV는 2012년부터 5년 연속 CES 혁신상을 받게 됐다.

Full-screen display가 적용 된 스마트폰을 곧 접할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 시장조사업체 유비산업리서치가 최근 발간한 ‘Key issue and Market Analysis for Foldable OLED’에 따르면 2017년까지는 좌-우 bezel이 없는 bezel-less 타입의 flexible OLED가 스마트폰 시장을 주도하고, 그 후에는 좌-우 뿐만 아니라 상-하 bezel도 최소화 하거나 제거 된 형태의 full-screen display가 2017년부터 등장하여 이후의 시장을 주도할 것으로 내다봤다.
Sunic System’s Successful Demonstration of 1.1um Shadow Distance, High resolution up to 1500 ppi
Sunic System announced at 2016 IMID Business Forum that it succeeded in implementing 1.1um shadow distance by using plane source evaporation and 100um shadow mask. 1.1um shadow distance is able to manufacture 1000ppi~1500ppi high resolution.

선익시스템은 2016 IMID Business forum에서 plane source evaporation과 100um두께의 shadow mask로 1.1um의 shadow distance 구현에 성공했다고 발표했다. 1.1um의 shadow distance는 약 1000ppi~1500ppi의 고해상도 제작이 가능한 수치이다.

LG Electronics, OLED TV volume of sales 2 times in the 3rd quarter
LG Electronics revealed that OLED TV volume of sales was enlarged two times than last year through the conference on the third quarter performance having been progressed on the 27th, and currently OLED TV occupied over 10% among total TV sales. Also they expect that volume of the fourth quarter will be increased two times vs. the third quarter.
LG Display, OLED Investment Ratio 50% this year → Next year 70%
During the 3Q performance conference call on 26th, LG Display mentioned that their investment ratio in OLED was 50% this year, and plans to increase its ratio to at least 70% next year.
BOE, Flexible OLED 라인에 465억 위안 규모 투자 결정
10월 28일 중국 쓰촨성 면양시 라디오와 TV 소식통에 따르면 BOE가 6세대 flexible OLED생산라인에 465억 위안(약 7.8조원)을 투자하기로 결정했다.
2016년 12월에 착공을 시작하여 2019년부터 양산을 목표로 하고 있으며, capa는 월 48K의 규모이다.
