LG전자는 2018 MWC를 통해 그간 다양한 기사들로 궁금증을 자아내게 했던 전면적인 모바일 라인업 업그레이드에 대한 입장을 일부 공개했다. 전시 관계자에 따르면 올해부터는 전략을 다양하게 시도할 것이며 신모델 출시에 관련해 꼭 경쟁사를 따라가지는 않을 것이라고 했다.
LG Display의 OLED시장에서의 영역 확대가 본격적으로 시작되고 있다. 29일부터 부산에서 개최중인 IMID 2017의 keynote session에서 LG Dispaly의 강인병 CTO는 ”OLED가 미래의 디스플레이 산업을 이끌어 나갈 강력한 후보”라며LG Display의 future plan을 제시하였다.
LG Display is expanding in earnest in OLED market. In the keynote session of IMID 2017 held in Busan on 29th, LG Display’s CTO Kang In-byeong pointed out the future plan of LG Display as “OLED is a strong candidate to lead the future display industry”.
According to Ubi Research, OLED panel shipments for smartphones in the second quarter of 2017 were 96.3 million units, up 2.6% from 92.9 million units in the same period last year. Compared to the previous quarter (94.7 million units), it increased by 0.6%.
LG전자는 18:9 화면비의 올레드 디스플레이를 제품 전면부에 꽉 채운 ‘올레드 풀비전(OLED FullVision)’을 하반기 전략 프리미엄 스마트폰에 적용한다. 디스플레이 크기는 전작인 LG V20의 5.7인치 보다 더 커진 6인치 대화면이지만 베젤을 줄여 제품의 크기는 오히려 작아진다.
LG Electronics will apply OLED FullVision, an 18: 9 aspect-ratio OLED display completely filling the entire screen panel to a strategic premium smartphone in the 2nd half. The size of the display is 6inch wide- larger than 5.7 inches of the previous model LG V20, but the size of the product is rather smaller by reducing the size of the bezel.
