[SID 2018] OLEDON, presented about X-mixing plane source deposition technology for AMOLED efficiency enhancement.

In SID 2018, Hwang Chang-Hoon, CEO of OLEDON, announced a new plane source FMM deposition technology that can produce ultra-high resolution AMOLED of 2,250 ppi. According to the announcement, the linear source currently applied to mass production has a problem of causing superimposition of fine adjacent patterns in a high resolution implementation due to a shadow distance of 3 μm. But Hwang said he succeeded in reducing the shadow distance of the patterns by 0.18 um using plane source, which is the smallest shadow distance ever introduced.

SID 2018에서 OLEDON의 황창훈 대표는 2,250ppi의 초고해상도 AMOLED를 제작 할 수 있는 새로운 면소스 FMM 증착기술을 발표했다.
발표에 따르면, 현재 양산에 적용 중인 리니어 소스는 3um의 섀도우 거리(shadow distance)로 인해 고해상도 구현 시 미세 인접 패턴들의 중첩을 발생시키기는 문제가 발생한다. 하지만 황대표는 면소스를 이용해 패턴들의 섀도우 거리를 0.18 um까지 줄이는데 성공하였다고 밝혔으며, 이는 현재까지 발표 된 섀도우 거리 중 가장 최소의 섀도우 거리라고 설명했다.

China TCL will invest RMB 42.8 billion (US$ 6.71 billion) in Shenzhen to establish a factory for large-area OLED panel production. According to South China Morning Post, TCL recently announced that it will produce 90,000 units on the basis of 70-inch panel in the new production line of Gen 11 (3370 mm x 2940 mm) with the goal of mass production in March 2021 in the data submitted to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The main products are to be known as 65-inch and 75-inch OLED panels, and 65-inch, 70-inch and 75-inch display panels with 8K resolution.

로스앤젤레스에서 개최중인 SID2018 전시회에서 스마트폰의 전면 스피커가 없는 새로운 개념의OLED가 공개되었다. 삼성디스플레이의 신작인 “Sound on display”는 스마트폰 상단에 있는 스피커를 없애고 패널 뒷면에 전기 신호를 진동으로 전환 시킬 수 있는 압전소자(piezo electric) actuator를 부착한 것이다. actuator가 OLED 패널을 진동 시켜 소리를 발생시키는 메커니즘이다. LG디스플레이가 판매하고 있는 “Crystal sound OLED”와 같은 방식이다.

OLEDWorks, OLED 조명과 드라이버가 통합 된 ‘OLEDSurface Light Module’ 출시 발표

OLED 조명 전문 업체인 OLEDWorks는 최근 OLED 조명과 driver, 프레임 등이 모듈에 모두 통합 된 ‘OLEDSurface Light Module’을 출시한다고 발표했다.
OLEDSurface의 두께는 8.1 mm이며 무게는 90 g, 색온도는 3000K 또는 4000K, 밝기는 최대 300 lm으로써, 벽이나 천장 등 평평한 표면에 쉽게 설치할 수 있으며 추가적인 방열 시스템이 필요 없다는 것이 특징이다. 또한, 이 모듈에는 저전압 정전류 드라이버와 0-10V 디밍 호환 드라이버가 내제되어 있다.
